  1. To engage the Smart Fonts feature, which disables the dash smartkey when the current font is a system font, check this button.

  3. To change the two hyphens into an en dash (an em dash otherwise), check this button.

  5. To add a preceding and trailing space to the dash, check this button.

  7. To temporarily disable the dash smartkey, check this button and hold down the command and option keys when typing the second hyphen.

  9. To turn on the dash smartkey, check this button. When itΓÇÖs off, the options are dimmed.
